My fee is $180. I am out of network, as are all private specialists competent to treat OCD and other anxiety disorders. Regardless of whether you see me or someone else, don't waste time and money seeking help from someone on your insurance plan. There simply are no therapists on any plan that are specialized to treat OCD and anxiety disorders. They are generalists, who might be good for talking about relationships, a crisis, or self esteem, but they won't get rid of your OCD and anxiety. Why is this? Therapy is like anything else; you get what you pay for, and a $50 therapist does not offer the same expertise. The good news is: TREATMENT FOR OCD IS MORE AFFORDABLE THAN EVER BEFORE. Most clients' insurance reimburses them for the vast majority of my fee and offer a generous number of sessions

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT FOR OCD? OCD is a very treatable condition and, in many cases, medication might not be necessary. Hundreds of research studies agree that the best treatment for OCD is a form of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy known as "exposure response-prevention" (ERP), which I practice. ERP helps OCD sufferers overcome their fears and reduce their compulsive behaviors gradually, at a pace they're comfortable with. While results are gradual, ERP does not require long term traditional psychotherapy. Results occur in months not years. ERP has been shown more effective in the long run (in terms of curing and preventing later relapses) than either medication or other therapies. For details see the tab, "Describe Treatment."

To confirm whether you have OCD take the self-test below, or email Dr. Brodsky for a free phone consultation, make an appointment online yourself, or call 212-726-2390. 1. Do you have disturbing thoughts that just seem to "pop into your head" that you feel you have no control over? These thoughts could be about harm to yourself or others, health, cleanliness, safety, sexuality, violence, religion or morality, guilt, over-responsibility, things being out of order, appearance or body image, nonsense thoughts or unanswerable philosophical questions. 2. Do the thoughts cause an exaggerated anxiety, fear, guilt, panic, or discomfort that, at times, seems irrational even to you? (Young children with OCD might not believe their thoughts are irrational.) 3
